All About Women's Day at the Studio

Saturday, September 10 is Women's Day at the Studio

Women's Day at the Studio is a chance for women who ride bikes to meet, ride, learn and have a great time together!  The day will be packed with fun activities, good food, and many ladies from all ages & abilities who like to ride.  Women's Day at the Studio is for getting women on their bikes, having a great time together, and for being a catalyst to encourage new rides and future events that address the desires of women bike riders.

Registration is $20 for this full day of riding, workshops, food, and camaraderie.

We know you're busy; if you can't make it to the whole day, just pick and choose the parts that work for you.  We understand!

Schedule of Events

Fun Bike Rides

  • 7:30 am - Instead of a fast ride, come early & fuel up for the 8:30 am ride
  • 8:30 am - Intermediate Bike Ride & On-the-Bike riding tips by Nicole Freedman, Boston Bike Czar & former pro road racer -  45 miles, 15-17 mph average (no drop)Women Bike Riders
  • 9:30 am - Beginner & Casual Bike Ride  -  15 miles - 12 mph average

Brunch Break  11 am

  • Clean up after the rides and enjoy delicious after-ride food, including the famous, freshly made Ride Studio Cafe Waffles.
  • Bike Fit: Want to know if your bike fits you correctly?  Looking for tips on how to avoid injury, manage existing issues, improve power output?  Need your saddle adjusted or thinking of trying a different saddle?  A bike fit pro will be available to check your bike fit and answer questions.
  • Learn what combination of clothes will keep you warm & happy this fall and winter.  We will have some especially cute clothes made by and for women!

Workshops 1:00 - 2:30 pm

Choose one of the below:Lady road biker

  • Beginner Riding Basics - Tricks to riding that make it easier and much more fun. -Ride Studio Cafe Curator & road racer Patria Lanfranchi has a collection of good advice from years on the roads of Colorado and in the Italian peloton.
  • Basic Bike Maintenance, Fixing a Flat & Cleaning the bike -  Studio mechanic & elite cross racer Andrea Smith shows you the basics on how to maintain your bike.
  • Yoga for Cyclists: Kathy Martin, pro yoga instructor & cyclist teaches yoga specifically to aid anyone who rides a bike.  Bring a mat or let us know that you'll want one.
  • Racing cyclocross: Hear the tips & tricks from pro cyclocross racer Mo Bruno Roy!  Practice mounting, dismounting & running over barriers.  Mo will give helpful insights into how she trains, what she packs in her race bag, explain what are the courses like, how to warm up, what to do at the start, all of it! - Bring your bike - cross bike or mountain bike if you have one, but road bike with mountain bike pedals works, too.

Break 2:30 - 3:00 pm

Chat with riders or participate in one of the following:

  • Flat fixing Q&A with pro mechanic Andrea Smith of the Ride Studio Cafe - get those flat fixing questions answered!
  • Check out the training plans & approach that others use for the cross season and off-season.

Workshops 3:00 - 4:30 pm

Choose one of the below:

  • How to get the most out of your training plan: Pro mountain & road racer as well as professional coach & physical therapist Sara Bresnick will discuss training, nutrition, planning, making and meeting your goals.
  • The Real Ride of Your Life: Juggling Motherhood and Cycling. Join Lauren Hefferon, mamma of three and owner of Ciclismo Classico Bicycle Tours as she shares her wisdom and experience on how she continually juggles her passions of cycling, travel and running a business with being a mother. This is mainly a Q&A so she can customize her experience to your most pressing concerns and curiosity.
  • Racing cyclocross: Hear the tips & tricks from pro cyclocross racer Mo Bruno Roy! Practice mounting, dismounting & running over barriers.   • Adjusting the derailleur, changing a cassette, truing a wheel & changing a chain + Q&A - Bring your questions, Ride Studio pro mechanic Andrea Smith has the answers.

4:30 - 5:30 pm

Q & A with local current & former pros and each other - Swap advice on bikes, which saddles feel best, what you do to cross-train in the winter, and more!

Party for All!  5:30 pm - Evening

Along with a general feeling of well-being after riding, there are also come the perks of being able to consume lots of good food in good company. We're inviting the boys, hosting a wine tasting and bringing in scrumptious food. Let your hair down and enjoy the evening together. Bring your friends, significant others and wrap up the day right!
