Monday's Guest Roasters

After a well-deserved rest day, we bring you yet another guest espresso.

Today's Guest Espresso

Metropolis Redline

Metropolis Coffee Company, a small batch artisan roaster in Chicago's North side, is the creation of Jeff and Tony Dreyfuss.  Some accolades include:

  • Voted Microroaster of the Year 2007
  • Best Cup of Coffee in Chicago 2007
  • America's Top 14 Coffee Bars 2006
  • Best Place to Buy Beans in Chicago 2006
  • Best Latte 2005 and 2007

This father and son are a team to contend with.

Here's what they have to say about the Redline Espresso, "Its richness runs down the center like a racing stripe, leaving a trail of cocoa, honey, lavender, and a mild merlot-like fruit in the finish. The flavors translate perfectly in milk and are even amplified in sweetness making for a marvelous latte or cappuccino."

And speaking of racing, these guys, in addition to being big bike enthusiasts, sponsor a cyclocross and a road race team.

Guest Pourover Coffees

Three very different companies and coffees.  Each one worth a visit; so, stop by thrice today!

Roaster:  Olympia Coffee Roasting

Coffee: La Mirella "Honey" - Costa Rica: Olympia says, "The hefty body produced by honey processing and the flavor of sweet, nutty graham crackers envelops a transparent profile of stone fruits and citrus in this highly drinkable cup."

Roaster:  Zoka Coffee Roasters & Tea Company

Coffee:  Harrar Oromia - Ethiopia:  Zoka says about the tasting notes, "Raspberry, clove, semi-sweet chocolate."  Read more about this unique organic coffee on their site.

Roaster:  Verve Coffee Roasters

Coffee:  Blue Batak - Sumatra:  You may notice that this is the second time we're featuring Verve.  That may indicate how much we're liking their offerings.  See our first experience.

Don't forget, the Cafe closes at 3pm today.  Hope to see you soon.
